Considering how sleep has been relevant to this season, I’d go with this quote.

MY PERSONAL THEORY IS THAT STILES HAS TO BE “PUT TO SLEEP” IN A MANNER THAT EITHER SIMULATES DEATH OR IS INCREDIBLY CLOSE TO IT, LIKE IN ROMEO AND JULIET, WITH THE POISON DEATON THE FRIAR PROVIDES. ONCE THE VESSEL IS DEAD OR DYING, THE NOGITSUNE MIGHT LEAVE STILES’S BODY OR BE FORCED TO LEAVE IT, AND THEN IT CAN BE EXORCISED IN SOME WAY. STILES WILL LATER BE REVIVED AS HIMSELF, FREED OF THE NOGITSUNE’S CONTROL.

I REALLY BELIEVE THAT DEATON WILL BE THE “FRIAR” IN THIS CONTEXT. LET’S SEE WHAT THE FRIAR IN ROMEO AND JULIET SAYS, SHALL WE?

I THINK STILES IS GOING TO BE PUT INTO A NEAR-DEATH STATE USING A HERB OR A SPELL OF SOME SORT. AFTER ALL, HE GOT POSSESSED WHEN HE NEARED DEATH IN ORDER TO APPROACH THE NEMETON, RIGHT? SO PERHAPS THE ONLY WAY TO BE FREE IS TO APPROACH DEATH AGAIN, TO PUT HIM IN THAT STATE WHERE THINGS CAN GO IN OR OUT OF HIM, AND THEN EXTRACT/EXORCISE THE NOGITSUNE WHEN HE’S IN THAT STATE.
